Kristin's solo album Ports of Call
is released on September 2nd by Dren
Records!
Here's
what online reviewers are saying -
"a
remarkably sparse, but intimately beautiful debut"
- screamingbloodymess.com
"an
unequivocal triumph, a debut record that fills the listener with delight"
- lostwriters.net
How to
get a copy for yourself -
Buy
it at CD BABY - $12.50 plus shipping
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/kristinmueller
Go
to the CD RELEASE SHOW
on Wed Sept 6th at 9pm
This is on Wednesday September 6th (Kristin is onstage 9pm-10pm).
CDs will be available for purchase at the show (probably at a better
price than CD BABY)
The pre-release
contest is now finished. Congratulations to H who provided
the most interesting recommendation of someone (L) to receive
a copy of Ports of Call. Both H and L will both
receive their prizes shortly - one in Brighton and one in Manhattan!
(New
York, August 2nd 2006)
Exactly
a month until Kristin's solo album Ports
of Call is released on September 2nd by Dren
Records. I've listened to the album and it's beautiful!

To wet
your appetites, we've put up MP3 excerpts
from three songs off the new album - Domesticity Song, Home and Hopefully.
We've also posted the full lyrics to these
three songs. The 2003 version of Finding A Woman is still
available to download, and you'll have
to get the album to compare the 2006 version to its predecessor that
made it into a movie. There's a new
page that has info about the album and the album art will be posted
there by the end of August.
CONTEST!
As previously mentioned, we're going
to have a contest and the winner gets two free copies of the new album
- each with hand decorations and signature by Kristin Mueller herself.
One copy is for the winner, and the second copy is to give to a very
interesting person that they know.
The
question is - Who is the most interesting person that you know
personally that you would like to give the album to as a gift? Describe
the person, how you know them and why you think it would be interesting
to give them the album.
The
questions all need to be e-mailed in by the final day of August 2006.
The winner will be the person whose choice sounds most interesting.
We'll send out the notification of who won by the album release date
- September 2nd.
Send
your answers to thedishbench (at) yahoo (dot) com and use the
subject line "kristin's contest".
(New
York, July 27th 2006)
The next
chance to check out the new Kristin:Austin duo is Sunday the
30th of July, but if that's too short notice, you still have time
to drop everything and get down to the show on Wednesday the 16th
of August.
Another
reason to go to the 16 August show is you'll get to see Kristin playing
drums in Gloria Deluxe. As if that wasn't enough, you'll get
the chance to see the highly recommended Matty
Charles. And if you don't know what Matty Charles sounds like,
why not listen to the new WFMU show Old
Time New on the final Friday of every month (6am-9am). This
show features Kristin Mueller & Noah Uman as hosts and includes
a Matty Charles live performance on the last Friday of every month
via web stream only and if you don't get up that early, you can always
catch the show on the www.wfmu.org
webstream and show archive. (Please note this is not the Flaming
Robots of Love show which happens during the 6am-9am Friday
timeslot on all other Fridays except the last Friday of the month).
Finally,
here's the news you've been waiting for... the Kristin Mueller (solo)
album release date is officially September 2nd through Dren
Records. I don't want to spoil the excitement by giving it all
away now, but rest assured, you'll get preview samples from several
more songs before the release date, and possibly a peak at the beautiful
artwork too. Finally, when the album is released, it will be available
through Amazon.com, CD Baby and I-Tunes. Who knows, we might even
throw in a contest for good measure!
(New
York, July 6th 2006)
Big big
news!!! Kristin's brand new debut CD is expected to be officially
released in August! See Dren Records for more on this www.drenrecords.com.
Meanwhile
there's a terrific gig with Kristin playing solo on June 6th 2006.
It features Gloria Deluxe
and the M Shanghai
String Band. Austin Hughes (of M Shanghai String Band) has
been collaborating with Kristin. They played a gig in Kingston, NY
recently (see photos page).
Here's
what Kristin has to say about playing with Austin Hughes -
"He and I are recording a collaborative
album and are now playing out as a duo that we call kristin:austin.
It features some of my songs some of his songs and lots of harmonies.
I like it lots and its a more feasible sound for travelling on
tour."
If you
want to hear a sample from the new album, visit the music
page.

[web

Its sound is compelling, lively, haunting, and beautiful. I preferred
it to all previous Caulfield
Sisters recordings I'd heard. Go to a show and pick up a
copy. Find out for yourself.]
